Edwin Vargas
Edwin joined the faculty of Conservative Baptist Seminary – Asia as lecturer in Systematic Theology and New Testament Survey after taking his Master of Divinity studies at International School of Theology – Asia (ISOT-Asia). While still a seminary student, he was given the privilege to officially represent ISOT-Asia to the 1st Annual Forum on Theology, a yearly gathering of evangelical theologians in the Philippines and other neigboring countries in Asia hosted by Asian Theological Seminary to discuss theological and ministerial issues in the Asian context. Having exposed himself to the reality that 21st century evangelical Christianity has been somewhat characterized by theological snobbery, he has since then focused much of his attention in doing research and writing articles on contemporary evangelical theology and ministry in relation to the postmodern mood of the hour. He currently aims at furthering his theological training and broadening his exposure in philosophy by enrolling as a theology and/or philosophy student at Heythrop College of the University of London.
An evangelical minister of a Reformed/Calvinistic perspective, he takes an open-but-cautious approach in doing theology and ministry in the context of 21st century realities. His personal mission in both life and ministry is “to elevate our concept of God until it is once more worthy of Him” (courtesy of A. W. Tozer, The Knowledge of the Holy) and to recover "the zeal to illustrate the glory of God" (courtesy of John Calvin)
